Jen Kingwell’s Block of Maroc is a Template of the Month BOM inspired by her recent visits to Morocco. This listing is for the $5 nonrefundable registration fee for the 12 month program. You will be billed $37 each month for 12 months. Please note that there are no refunds and no cancellations for any Block of the Month or Monthly Subscription program. By registering for Block of Maroc you recognize this is a full 12-month program and agree to be charged $37 for 12 monthly shipments.

  • A hints and tips video by Jen to help piece each block

  • Fabric to make each block

• Participants will also receive:

  • free access to Jen's online hand piecing and appliqué workshops

• The BOM is expected to begin in July or August 2024

QUILT AND FABRIC DETAILS

• The finished quilt measures 73” x 86”

• The fabric guide is approximately 1 yard per month, 12 yards in total, to be supplied to participants in a mixture of fat 16ths and fat 8ths.

• Jen will be stitching along each month

  • Her first quilt was made using the fabrics shown in the photos above.

  • She will be using a bright and cheery colorway for her second quilt.

THE INSPIRATION

“In 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Morocco not once, but twice a country I had never even dreamt I would set foot in. Despite my extensive research beforehand, nothing could have prepared me for the sheer wonder of this captivating country.

The tour delved into every facet of Morocco and its rich cultural tapestry. We navigated the bustling, labyrinthine Medina of Marrakesh and strolled through the enchanting blue streets of Chefchaquen.

We were lucky to visit some women’s co-ops, where they generously shared the artistry behind their diverse crafts (as well as their lovely food). We witnessed local artisans meticulously crafting ceramics by hand.

Morocoo’s boundless beauty provided endless amounts of inspiration - from the earthy tones of its traditional terracotta architecture juxtaposed against the vast expanse of the sky, to the intricate tile motifs adorning every surface. The Sahara Desert’s golden sands left me spellbound, while the kaleidoscope of hues found in natural dyes and woven textiles were truly awe-inspiring.

I hope through making this quilt you will get a sense of my deep love and affection I have for Morocco and its people. The memories forged during these journeys are deeply cherished, sparking within me the desire to pen a love letter to Morocco through my craft. And so the inspiration for this Block of the Month was born. - Jen”
