International Analog Day
February’s Open Studio falls on International Analog Day so we are extending the hours and planning extra events. To make sure there is plenty of space for everyone to participate, registration is required. Like all our Open Studio events, there is no fee involved. Bring your own craft to work on with others. If you do not have a project, no need to worry! There will be activities like puzzles and letter writing, and we have extra supplies on hand to share. Sound fun? Keep reading for the details.
Information regarding International Analog Day:
WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL ANALOG DAY?
Instigated by Badass Cross Stitch Society and The Joyful Menace Society, it’s a day dedicated to anything/everything that is not digital! We hope you will avoid screens, devices, and all other tech-based distractions. We want you to create space to engage in fun analog activities with friends and community. That could look like: crafting, board games, reading, baking, nature walks, letter writing, etc. Spend the day (or at least part of it) pretending it’s 1902! Get old school with it.
WHY?
Digital technology is wonderful and useful, but it can get in the way of engaging in meaningful ways with our friends and neighbors. We want you to spend some time not staring at a screen to strengthen bonds with your people. We want folks to have a little digital detox, reset your nervous systems, slow down, and unplug to connect. Plus, it’s FUN and who couldn’t use a little fun right now?
Details for our event:
DATE: Saturday, February 28th
Time: Drop in between 11am-3pm
Cost: Free but RSVP required as there is limited space
Supplies: Bring your own hand sewing project (embroidery, crochet, knitting, EPP) or other analog project (cards, letters to write, sketchbook) and connect with others. The Craft Table will also have analog activities like puzzles, hand stitching, and letter writing. We will have coffee, tea, water and soft drinks; feel free to bring your own beverage and snacks.
Please allow time for traffic and parking. There is street parking on Ferris, Virginia and other side streets. Email or call with any questions.
Not local, but want to participate? There are events happening all over the world. Check out this page to find one in your area.
